Think Spring Flowers Acrylic Fluid Pour Painting

As the sky brought snow showers, I thought about “Spring Flowers.” Think Spring Flowers Acrylic Fluid Pour Painting was my painting technique for the day. Pour painting is exactly what is says. I pour paint onto canvas. That may sound easy but there are quite a few techniques used in pour painting.

I already had a pre-painted, purple canvas board available from a few weeks ago. It seemed like a perfect fit for my first attempt at pouring and blowing flowers. I think the dark background made a nice contrast to the Yellow and Purple Power Pansies

Next, I painted Speckled Posies, a trio of flowers in red and pink with yellow centers. I splatter painted the background as shown below…

Getting bolder, I went for a combination of flowers. This one I call simply, Fantasy Flowers. As you can see, I mixed up a variety of colors. This one took quite a long time. There are two things I wish I had done differently; 1) used a larger canvas and 2) allowed more white space between each flower.

Thinking spring and Easter coming soon, I attempted to paint Abstract Tulips. Of course, my tulips are somewhat abstract….

I couldn’t waste a drop of paint, so I poured one more, large flower and added a sprinkle of glitter. I call this one, Glitter Glam Flower.

I can’t begin to tell you how much fun I had pouring and blowing these flowers! It was a slow and tedious process as my goal was to create purposeful pour paintings. All of these paintings are actually unframed. I simply showed them as if they were framed for the purpose of this post. Most of my flower paintings were photographed while the paint was still wet.
